Specialty Figures - Nurse and Surgeon

Because FLW allows for a medical staff and I don't have any figures for this, I thought that it would be a good place to start. My plan is to make a master sculpt of a nurse and a surgeon, then reproduce these in resin or liquid plastic.  For my Army Red, I figure I will need four nurses and two surgeons.

Day 1 - I start with the body of a Prince August Traditional Toy Soldier standing at attention.

Using some filler putty, I build up the apron of the surgeon and the dress of the nurse.

After that hardens, I apply the detail putty over the filler.

The results of the first day's work are shown below.

Day 2 - I gave each of the figures a head. These also came from the Prince August Traditional Toy Soldier. I cut off the hat and filed down the details so that I could add my own. This is where the process slows down. If you try to do too much at once, you end up messing something up.

Day 3 - I have added details to the heads.

Day 4 - At this point I'm focusing on the nurse. I've finished the face and begun the hat.

Day 5 - I've finished the nurse.

In the next installment, I'll finish the surgeon and make a mold.
